The museum is astounding. Amazing, well presented collection. People who work at the museum are super knowledgeable and are very helpful with questions. However the design of the building map is the worst. I was lost on the ground floor, trying to detect Renaissance section, when Forrest, the gentleman who works on the ground flooring of the primary building, gave me the map annotated with his notes and highlights. Whoever is responsible for that map design should include his notes there, as they were hugely helpful to navigate the galleries. I spent 5 hours in the museum and it was the best experience ever. Without annotations on the map, it wouldn't exist the same.

Absolutely phenomenal! I'grand not a huge fine art fan though I am addicted of museums. Everything about this identify is lovely. The architecture is phenomenal. The rooms are large ans easily accessible. There is and so much to run across and take in. We spent two hours in the museum and just saw a fourth of the second floor. Would definitely love to visit again and definitely worth a stop if you're in DC

National Treasure, and it is free. Living in the burbs, we only occasionally go into town because of the traffic and parking bug, only when we do, nosotros usually add a visit to the National Gallery. It is truly one of the finest museums in the globe and one of very few that is free to the public. Currently the featured exhibition is a major testify of Vermeer, or more precisely Vermeer and his contemporaries since in that location are more than works by other artists than by Vermeer, and some would advise that others might take been every bit good or better than he was. Whatever, it is a terrific evidence and another example of why the National Gallery of Fine art is such a fantastic place to visit.

The fine art is amazing, and I love how the rooms are designed contextually. However, the staff is awful. At closing, my friend and I were waiting for the elevator on the fourth floor of the East gallery. We were waiting with an elderly couple and a couple with two children, i of which was in a stroller. While waiting, a woman came over and screamed at us, "Oh no, y'all gotta take the steps! The elevator'south taking likewise long!" We had only been waiting a minute or then. She kept screaming at usa until nosotros took the stairs, and the elderly couple was visibly uncomfortable. On the mode downward, I saw some other human being begging a baby-sit to go back into the room because he dropped something, and the guard yelled, "Man, nosotros're trying to get you people out of here!" I am disgusted by the security guards at this museum. The National Gallery is something people are excited about and come from all effectually the world to visit. Yous would retrieve the staff would be fabricated of people who like to see others enjoying themselves.
